Got selected in BEL-CRL ( Bharat Electronics Limited - Central Research Laboratory)

On 20th Jan 2011, I got placed in BEL-CRL through IIT placement cell, there were 5 interviewers, first they took a written exam, for us they had given following choices 1. Computer Science 2. Electronics.
For Electronics(which i chose) there were two sections:
1. Basic Electronics: Covers basics of engineering electronics subjects
overall 20 questions, fairly easy ones
2. In this section we had to choose 2 subjects out of 5 subjects:

a.DSP b.VLSI c.Electromagnetic theory d.Communications e.Computer Networks.

I chose communications and computer networks, communications paper consist of AC,DC(PCM) and Computer networks stressed on Data link layer and network layer and their protocols.

Then on second day, they took 1hr interview starting with personal details then asked on my resume and most of my specialization subjects they were interested in my branch i,e telecom technology (how a call routed in POTS, CODECS in GSM, SS7 protocol etc.) and my project.

  4. for me it was on my subject, but there will be a team if the concerned person is there then they may ask. In my view prepare topics related to stream or interest and make them question on them. It won't be that tough to answer them.

  5. Before joining go through the bond carefully, many of its portion are ambiguous and they prevaricate the facts(like salary, bond period; quality of work, training, and resources; etc.), you can check about this on internet, many people have complained about the unethical practices of PSU's. In my view joining a job is very big decision in life, where initial 3-5 years of your job life matters most for the rest of your life, so don't just stick onto "1960's job security notion", which is useless when you cannot enjoy your job. The work you do should not shackle your growth.

Also don't come to change the system or with some sort of chauvinism, believe me i have seen enough people who eventually gave up this thought after joining, mostly because you can't teach every one what to do when you need to learn things for yourself, which is really hard, when you need to compromise with the standards of resources needed for that job.

Many after joining feel frustrated with the treatment they get from the seniors, although it is not true for everyone, but surely everyone will feel aimless ,lost ,and ennui; eventually some will inured to their predicament and other ,after a little struggle, will go to some other place.

But all this can be avoided if you will be little prudent about joining a PSU. Although this is my personal experience but be assured that it is not an aberration from common view.
